The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi today took to his verified twitter account to launch a “name and shame” sex offenders campaign. The Governor in his post stated that Ekitit State has official started naming and shaming convicted sex offenders in the State Ministry of Justice registry.
Apparently responding to the many cases of sex offenses reported on main stream and social media the government of Ekiti State Government opened a sex offenders registry and have a list of convicts currently service terms in prison.
The profile of the offender advertised today on the official @Kfayemi is that of a former clergy who molested a seven 7 year old minor. The offender identified as Rev. Asateru Gabriel formerly of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ifisin-Ekiti, is currently serving a five year imprisonment punishment at Federal Correctional Facility in Ado Ekiti. Governor Fayemi uses the #SayNotoRape. hashtag on his post.
