Injury depleted Liverpool returned to premier league action to take on Leicester city after the international break.  Liverpool came into the match at the back of losing some important players to injuries, the likes Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander- Arnold, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Charmbalain have already been sidelined, and during the international break, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson added to the injury list of jurgen klopp , both players suffered injury while on international duty . Joe Gomez suffered a knee tendon – Dijk and Trent Arnold on the sidelines. Jordan Henderson was forced out of England’s defeat in Belgium; he was substituted as a precaution after complaining of a problem during the half-time break.   Andy Robertson had also suffered a knock while on international duty with Scotland, but was able to shake off the knock to be in contention to face Leicester city.

Liverpool most dangerous striker, Mohamed Salah also added to the woes of Jurgen Klopp when he was confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with Egypt.

So it meant that Liverpool returned from international duty with no fit defender for the visit of Leicester city in their premier league match.  And ahead of the match with Leicester city, Jurgen Klopp had to make a difficult selection in the starting line-up.  Jurgen klopp fielded in two midfielders at centre back, with Fabinho back after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for three weeks, it provided boost for jurgen klopp, knowing that Fabinho has and can play at centre back more than any other midfielder. Jurgen Klopp also went with the versatile James Milner as his choice to play RB.

But Liverpool did not look like they miss Salah in the game with Leicester City, as Diego Jota, the man who is already proving to be the signing of the season stepped up and delivered just as he has always done since joining from Wolves in the summer.  Diego Jota who put in the MAN OF THE MATCH performance headed in the second goal after Evans had scored an own goal to give Liverpool an early lead.  Diego Jota has now scored 4 goals for Liverpool in the premier league, and 7 goals in all competition.  But Liverpool were not done yet, as they continued to search for the third goal, and it was firmino who ended his goal drought  to head home a James Milner’s cross to give Liverpool a deserve victory against Brendan Rodgers side. Liverpool won 3-0

There was another moment of concern for Liverpool, when Naby Kieta limped off in what was seen as a possible hamstring injury and was replaced in the second half.  Jurgen klopp will be hoping that it’s nothing serious.

With the win, Liverpool moved to 2nd place in the table, level on points with league leaders Tottenham.  Leicester city have dropped to fourth in the table.

Liverpool will return to action with Brighton next Saturday, but before that, they travel to Italy to take on Atalanta in their Champions’ League group game on Wednesday.
