In a night where capital team AS Roma had put themselves in front twice thanks to a brace from Jordan Veretout to give Roma the lead against the Italian champions Juventus just before half time, Juventus had to depend once again on their star man, Cristiano Ronaldo to come to their rescue.
Ronaldo will go on to level things up in the 44 minute of the game when AS Roma player Lorenzo Pellergrini was penalized for a hand ball just inside the box. A penalty was awarded to Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo step up to fire home the subsequent penalty. Juventus leveled 1-1.
But juventus lead did not last long as they were caught once again, just two minute after leveling things up when former Manchester united man, Mkhitaryan squared pass found Veretout who made no mistake as his composed finish cancel out Ronaldo’s leveler and put the Capital team back on the lead. AS Roma were leading 2-1.
To add to their frustration while in search for an equalized goal, juventus was reduced to 10 man in the 62 minute when midfielder, Adrien Rabiot received a second yellow card and sent out of the pitch for a clumsy challenge on the opponent player. Pirlo’s side were left with a mountain to climb.
the equalizer finally came in the 69 minute from a familiar source, thanks to a powerful header from Cristiano Ronaldo who ensured that the Italian champions went home from the capital with a point in Andrea Pirlo’s second game in charge.
the draw leaves AS Roma in 13th on the table, as their opening day 0-0 draw against Hellas Verona was changed to a 3-0 defeat by Serie A because they fielded an ineligible player.
while Juventus are in fifth place with four points from their opening two league games.
