The Governing Council of the University of Lagos on Wednesday announced the removal of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olawatoyin Ogundipe.

Mikhail Mumuni, the media adviser to the chairman of the governing council, Wale Babalakin, confirmed Ogundipe’s removal.

He said that Ogundipe was removed at the council’s meeting held Wednesday, 12th August at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission, Abuja.

Eleven of the twelve council members were in attendance, the VC included, majority of whom voted for the removal of Mr Ogundipe.

Ogundipe had been accused of financial impropriety and gross misconduct. But Mumuni said only the registrar of the university can provide details of Ogundipe’s removal.
