David villa who is currently playing for J1 league side vissel Kobe in japan has announce that he will be retiring at the end of the season as he will be 38 years of age.

David villa who began his professional football career with sporting de Gijon in 2001, thereafter ,he move to Real Zaragoza where he made his La Liga debut ,winning the Copa Del Rey and Supercopa de Espana  is said to be  one of the best strikers in europe in his time in spain..

He first came into limelight after joining valencia fc in 2005 for a transfer fee of £12 million where he scored more than 100 goal in a five year spell that saw him win the Copa del Rey with valencia in 2008 before joining Spanish power house Barcelona in 2011 at age 28 to lift the champions league by scoring in their 3-1 final win over manchester united in the champions league final and also won his first La Liga .   David Villa joined Barcelona in 2010 for a fee of £40 million following an impressive spell with Valencia.

He left Barcelona at the summer of 2013 after a successful spell at Camp Nou with the spanish giants to join Atletico Madrid for a fee of £5.1 million. there , he won another La Liga title.

After his stay in the spanish capital ,he left to join MLS franchise in New York City.

In 2018 , he announce his departure from New York  to relocate  to  Japan to join Vissel Kobe.                 Villa made his international debut for Spain national team in 2005 and has since gone to win major trophies for his country inculding UEFA Euro 2008 and 2010 Fifa World Cup.  He is the first ever Spanish player to ever reach 50 international goals and retired from internationals after the 2014 world cup making him spain all time top goalscorer as well as the world cup with nine goals.

The former Barcelona man said in a statement on social media . ” After 19 years as a professional ,i have  decided to retire from playing football at the end of the season.
