The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Orman Esin, says the 2019 Christmas celebration in Akwa Ibom will capture the real essence of Christmas and will be unique like never before.
He made this known on Tuesday while interacting with participants of the ongoing Royal Arts Academy Film Workshop holding at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo.
The Commissioner said Akwa Ibom, the only state named after God, is blessed to have a Governor like Mr. Udom Emmanuel, who has mandated his Ministry to put together an event that will showcase the true meaning of Christmas, tell #TheChristmasStory and project Jesus as God’s true #GiftToHumanity.
He said plans are in top gear to give Akwa Ibom residents and visitors a memorable Christmas experience with an event tagged #IbomChristmasCelebration, adding that the event will
feature the opening of the Christmas Village, Children’s Parade and the #IbomChristmasParade, which will have five bands namely; Grace Band, Victory Band, Praise band, Divine band and Glory band.
He hinted that the religious undertone of each band significantly brings to bear, the desire of the state government to re-echo the true essence of Christmas to the people.
Esin said Akwa Ibom is a unique state with unique features like the Victor Attah International Airport, Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, an International Stadium and a major commercial airline, Ibom Air.
He used the opportunity to intimate participants about the
proposed ORANGE STATE app branded as the first ever state-owned app in Nigeria, which will be launched in December.
The Orange State app is a global platform and social networking platform where businesses and independent professionals will connect and collaborate remotely. Users will learn to cook indigenous meals, learn Akwa Ibom languages, shop online, earn points for discounts and also use the alert feature in case of any emergency.
He ended by saying that registration into different bands have commenced and that the entire state should watch out and take part in the forthcoming Ibom Christmas Celebrations.
