Mr. Itohowo Jones AKA “Point One”, a notorious cultist and armed gang leader who has been terrorizing communities in Onna Local Government and environs have been shot dead by the police.
Reports reaching our newsroom has it that “Point One” who is native of Afaha Ubiom community in ONNA Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State was killed in his domain in Afaha Ubiom while trying to escape on sighting the police.
According to report, he was involved in rape and several armed robbery cases in ONNA and other communities as far as Rivers State, where he once resided.
He was also said to have been involved in several criminal activities in the area including manhandling of haulage truck drivers ferrying stones and other construction materials to the area.
Point One according to our source was one of those behind in recent cult-related killings in ONNA which lasted for about a month in the area. A business woman in the area who did not want her name in print was so elated while speaking with our Correspondent. She noted that for the past months, they have been living in fear and agony adding that his demise calls for celebration.
“Mr. Correspondent, you already know the story of this man and his gang members. It’s a great thing of joy to have him no more”, she said.
Another respondent who gave his name as Uko, advised ONNA youths to learn their lessons from the incident and take this period of having an ONNA native as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State to develop themselves positively. According to him, if young boys of ONNA extraction take the opportunity of this time to do meaningful things, it would fetch them better results.
When our Correspondent contacted the Divisional Police Officer of the Area, CSP Bello Zaurah on phone, he confirmed the report in affirmative. TNV had before going to press called Akwa Ibom Police PRO Odiko McDon Ogbeche to confirm the story but he declined audience saying that he is in a meeting.
Further checks revealed that the deceased’ Corpse has already been deposited at the Immanuel Hospital mortuary in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.
