Suspected herdsmen, on Friday (4/10/2019) afternoon, murdered one Mr. Lucky Udoakpan, in Nkek Village of Ukanafun Local Government Area, in Akwa Ibom State.

Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Hon. Uko Idiong, has confirmed the incident.

A source close to the deceased family told our reporter that the sad incident occurred, following a clash with the herders at a farm, where the deceased had gone to harvest his palm fruits, in company of his brother.

“Lucky went to harvest palm fruits this afternoon, when he saw those Hausa boys and their cows grazing on his farms, so he told them that the have damaged all his crops. They argued for a while and you know those cow rearers are very violent, so they stabbed him in three different places and he died. His brother fled. They even dug a grave in the farm and tried to bury him there”, the source said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Mr Uko Idiong who later visited the deceased family, with the Member representing the area in the State Legislature, Hon Charity Ido, advised the youths to remain calm and not take laws into their hands, as investigation is being carried out by the Nigerian Police Force.

Efforts to reach the State Police PRO, SP Odiko Macdon, were not successful.
