Ahead of the 67th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) scheduled to start this week end, five RCCG Ministers were abducted along Ijebu-Ode axis on Thursday August 1, while on their way to the church’s Ministers’ Conference, a preliminary event to the main convention.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, disclosed the sad news today (Friday August 2, 2019) at the Redemption Camp Ground along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The leader of the Church observed that this is the first time that such incident is recorded in the history of the church convention. There has not been any such occurrence at the other 66 Annual events conducted over the years. Pastor Adeboye therefore solicit for earnest prayers for the abducted Pastors to regain their freedom immediately. The obviously sad leader rhetorically asked

“As a father, how do you think I should feel to hear that five of my children have been kidnapped while on their way to attend the Ministers Conference?”.

The news comes on the heels of several security concerns in the same axis of the federal highway that citizens have been harassed, abducted and killed in recent times. A few weeks ago the daughter of a prominent Yoruba leader was killed by armed men while travelling on the Benin – Ore end of the highway en-route Lagos. The authorities claim that technology and drones are used to improve security on the notorious highway
